 Health Physics Job Openings

03/04/08

Dr. Gach seeks an imaging researcher to lead and implement research in medical imaging and physiological modeling at the Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI).  The imaging researcher may develop: 1) real-time mathematical algorithms for modeling and predicting organ motion related to respiration, 2) models of in vivo hemodynamics, 3) pulse sequence programs for MRI or other diagnostic imaging modalities, and 4) image reconstruction and analysis programs.  The imaging researcher may perform imaging experiments, analyze data, prepare manuscripts, assist researchers in the conduct of their imaging experiments, and instruct/mentor students.

Human research imaging is primarily conducted on our 1.5 T Siemens Avanto whole-body MRI.  NVCI also operates a Bruker 7 T 20 cm bore, refrigerated (USR) Biospec small bore imaging system for pre-clinical research.  NVCI houses a full digital imaging department including PET/CT, SPECT, Mammography, 16-slice CT, Ultrasound, and X-ray that are used in both clinical and research imaging.  A 3 T MRI is planned for the future.
